Learn about Rootly’s notifications and how to get yourself set up.
To update your notifications:
Navigate to Account Settings —> Notifications.
Select General or On-Call Notifications.
For general Email Notifications, you have the following options:
Weekly summary of all Incidents in the previous week
When an action item is assigned to me
When an incident role is assigned to me
When a postmortem is published
Rootly product updates, events and news
For general Slack Notifications, you have the following options:
When an action item is assigned to me
When an incident role is assigned to me
When you are invited to join an incident
When your user appears in the initial incident message mention your user (ex. @rootly_bot)
When your user appears in Slack incident events mention your user (ex. @rootly_bot)
On-call shift reminders will be toggled on by default.
To update your on-call shift reminders:
Navigate to Account Settings —>Notifications -> On-Call Notifications
Select General or On-Call Notifications
Reminders can be sent 1 hour, 1 day, and 3 days before the beginning of a shift via:
SMS
Push Notifications
Slack
Notification rules will always have one layer that cannot be removed.
To update your notification rules:
Navigate to Account Settings —> Notifications -> On-Call Notifications.
To add an additional notification rule layer, click ‘Add Step’.
Specify how many minutes you would like this new layer to notify you.
Select your notification preferences for each layer you add:
SMS
Call
Push Notification
Test your notification rule layer; click on ‘Test’.
To delete a notification rule layer, click on ‘Delete’.
